The Ross Mechanical Difference

Service and Installation Mechanics Technical Training

At Ross Mechanical we believe that training is the corner stone of a great technical staff. Each year Ross Mechanical service and installation mechanics receive a minimum fifty hours of external training combined with the countless hours of in house training provided by our mentors, service manager and visiting manufacturer’s trainers.

In order to advance our technicians go through the following steps.
Each technician must have a certification of graduation from an accredited technical school and two years field experience. Once a potential technician has passed a series of test to ensure that they posses the proper background and knowledge they go through the following.

Junior Level Technicians

  • Four months of on the job training riding with a mentor
  • Intensive in-house training on how to perform a proper inspection
  • Manufacturers training on basic controls
  • Manufacturers training for Ductless splits
  • Manufacturers training for compressor diagnostics and tear-down
  • Indoor air quality training
  • Weekly reviews by mentors to ensure the technician is performing at the proper level.

Junior Technicians only perform maintenance under the watchful eye of either a Mid–Level , Senior or Mentor Technician or assist other technicians on two mechanic jobs. Until they spend a minimum of one year with Ross Mechanical
And pass our advancement tests.

Mid Level Technicians

Each mid level technician must have a certification of graduation from an accredited technical school and five years field experience. Once a potential technician has passed a series of test to ensure that they posses the proper background and knowledge they go through the following.

  • Advanced Manufacturers training to ensure familiarity with the equipment
  • Hydronics and boiler service and training
  • Control system and vav service

Senior Technicians

Each senior technician must have a certification of graduation from an accredited technical school and Ten years field experience. Once a potential technician has passed a series of test to ensure that they posses the proper background and knowledge they go through the following.

  • Upper level controls training
  • Manufacturers training on scroll, screw and DX chillers
  • Larger size power burner boilers
  • Updated courses with various manufacturers to ensure familiarity with the current equipment

The Function of Our Mentors

Our mentors who come from the ranks of our journey men with a minimum of fifteen years of field experience assist in the training process by holding in house technical seminars and one on one training sessions with younger technicians.

  • Mentors work with all field technicians to help them reach their full potential
  • Mentors provide a place to confirm ideas and solutions
  • Mentors assist in training the younger technicians and help develop a career path for them
